Long-distance move from Seattle, WA to Arlington, VA

Lost of Missed Communication

We booked our cross-country move with Suddath since we knew people who had a good experience. However, there was miscommunication from the beginning that led to our boxes not being labelled, us doing the work for the move and lots of damaged goods. This was in addition to a late delivery. Would not recommend.

Long-distance move from Bremerton, WA to Virginia Beach, VA

Moving

First, I'll preface by saying I've never written a review for a company before. Then I had the unfortunate event of having to move through Suddath. An utter embarrassment across every level of my move:

1. They misidentified the amount of goods that I sent to them IN A VIDEO, and sent only two packers to pack up dozens of boxes and heavy furniture. Took hours longer than it should have and it was unfortunate for the packers who did not expect as many goods.

2. Once my goods arrived in Virginia, I received a text on my expected delivery date that said they were going to be there in a couple of hours, and then they proceeded to never show up. It took many phone calls and lots of transferring (because apparently everybody on the administrative side is more incompetent than the last person) in order to reschedule the delivery for another dates. Don't worry though, it only cost me taking my personal days off for it to finally work out.

3. And finally, the delivery of the goods was fine until I realized my computer was broken in the move. Unfortunate but it happens, so I filed a claim. 2 months later they finally get back to me just to tell me my claim is denied because 'computer parts have an incalculable lifespan and can break at any time'. Even though yaknow, my computer worked fine before the move.

Overall, this company is unprofessional, impossible to actually contact and get any information out of, and just an all-around embarrassment. I cannot emphasize enough how much you should find another company to move with.

Nice Move.

We hired Suddath to move goods from Munich to Wisconsin - we were very pleased with the service, packers, salesperson and back office.  The salesperson and assigned coordinator were fully aware of import rules and how to handle an estate move. While we did not have a full container load, they accurately estimatd our move needs from photos provided by us.  They came in right on price target and disclosed all costs to us up front knowing that port fees were somewhat variable.  In Munich, they packed family paintings, crystal, china and furniture - labeled and securely covered.  The packers were professional and ready with all the import/export papers.  They used light weight brown paper reinforced with bubble wrap and covered every inch of each piece of furniture.  Not a single item broke and the packaged items arrived exactly as packed at the origin.  They happily even arrived earlier than expected.  So if you are dealing with the Jacksonville, FL group, we had no problems and were nicely surprised in a positive way. .

Long-distance move from Anchorage, AK to Whitewater, KS

PCS move.

Worst PCS I have ever had. They ensured they would take care of us. They busted RDD 3 times with NO notification. Lost my stuff twice and refused to tell me kept saying they didn't know where it was. After 8 weeks of contact daily, my stuff arrived in Kansas, had to wait another 3 weeks for my stuff to be delivered. Staff is completely rude and refuses to be of any help including the manager. I had to threaten to hire a lawyer for them to find my things and return my phone calls. My father is a truck driver and said he could noy believe how crappy of services I was receiving from this company. The Military and Quality Control were contacted and are aware of this situation so it doesn't happen to other military families. Have also tried to contact them since the move about my broken and missing thjngs and they refuse to return my calls yet again.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to California

Suddath United Van Line UNTRUSTWORTHY.

My family relocated from Boston to CA at the end of June 2011. It's a corporate move which uses United Van Line with which Suddath was affiliated and they handled the moving process. Long story short. They used a local vender to handle the pick up which I was very satisfied with (very professional and organized). Well, we did our own packing before they came in small, medium, and large boxes and we gave them in an organized manner. But in CA during the delivery, it was a totally nightmare! I don't know how they stored or handled our boxes but they came back all falling apart. I moved once 2 yrs ago prior to this move from the west to the east and the boxes came in all fairly nicely. But this time was different. These were all new home depot boxes I bought prior to the move and they were all broken or torn, totally unusable after this one move. They promised they would put back the furniture(desks, bed, couches, TV, etc) but the movers initially failed to do. After I brought it up and insisted, they put together our bed and couches in a sloppy way, still left the TV without the base, and desks unassembled (I later did on my own). They told me they had to rush to the next appointment. Some furniture were badly scratches, bookcase totally broken, decoration tree broken, and a large bowl broken. The worst part is this: they lost 10 of my boxes out of 144, including a printer, other electronics, basketballs, home decors, dishes, etc! At the delivery, I sensed some boxes are missing because for one I didn't see my printer which was packed in its original box. So I refused to sign the paper work to acknowledge I've received all my belongings. The movers were mad so he grabbed the paper from my hands and walked away. I later filed claim but the claim agent used that fact against me saying that because I didn't sign the paperwork, they won't be able to compensate me for the lost boxes. I said I didn't want to be compensated just find these boxes but she said they couldn't do that either.I was seriously mad at that point and wrote a complaint letter to the VPs of the company I was joining since it's a corporate move. They worked with a VP Brian at Suddath and got the issue resolved after 3 months and I was paid about several thousands for all the repair and the lost boxes. Since then 6 months have passed, every time I thought about the experience I felt angry. I'd better forget it, but word of wisdom for new consumers: STAY AWAY FROM SUDDATH!

Local move within Florida

Terrible experience.

I have moved several times in the past 15 years and this was the absolute worst moving company I have ever dealth with. Upon the initial pick up items were labled with specific locations they are going to. Many boxes were mixed up and mislabled. When I complained the company representative I never received a response. But worst of all after 3 years of storage my furniture comes back infested with Termites and Powder Post Beetles! When the first piece came off and had termite residue on it I would not allow it into the house and contacted an exterminator to take it away for fumigation. As more furniture was taken off the truck it became apparent that most of the wooden furniture was infested and the entire truckload had to be repacked onto another truck and hauled off for fumigation at a cost of $3,800. The moving company is denying responsibility stating the furniture was infested before they picked it up which is difficult to believe since we had lived in the house for 15 years and always had a termite contract on the house and it was inspected annually. Now I am stuck with filing an arbitration hearing that I will probably loose since they state I signed a statement at the inception of the move that they were not responsible.  I probably did for they put over 30 pages of inventory in front of me to initial and sign while the supervisor waited impatiently. Never, Never use this mover for they are irresponsible, sloppy and dishonest in my opinion.

International move from Miami, FL to , MEX

Ransom for my belongings.

Paid $11,000 to Suddath in advance for the move. The ship arrived to the Mexican port of Veracruz but was rerouted to another port Tuxpan. After six weeks, the container was still sitting there and Suddath did nothing. After seven weeks of e mails and phone calls we did tell them we will hire a lawyer. Then, they send us a bill for "storage" of an extra $5,000 if we wanted our belongings delivered. We negotiated since our lifetime house was held for "ransom" and had to pay them and extra $1,200 if we wanted to see out house items again. Worse move ever and I had 14 so far. Plus, some items were damaged. We took photos and informed them. They never responded.

Local move from Green Cove Springs, FL to Orlando, FL

Extremely poor logistic service.

This review is directed to Suddath Jacksonville Florida mover. We hired them to move our household goods on January 26, 2016. Few months prior to that, an estimator was dispatched to our residence to give us a rough estimate on how much it cost us to ship our belongings from Green Cove Springs Fl to Orlando Fl. Before I called this company to do an estimate, I also considered two other companies but ended up with Suddath Jacksonville Fl since they're affiliated with United Van lines that we previously used to move our household goods from Apple Valley CA to Green Cove Springs Fl. Now, the United Van Lines company we used in California did a stellar job moving our goods to Florida, so we thought that Suddath Jacksonville Florida mover was at par with the California counterpart, but boy was I wrong. The workers who moved our belongings from Green Cove Springs Florida to Orlando Florida did a lot of damage to our furnitures, from scratches to dents and anything imaginable. My husband and I were extremely horrified by this experience. We thought it would be a no sweat move since it was only a short distance relocation. Imagine that move from California to Florida with movers who managed to ship our goods in perfect condition, you would also think this Suddath Jacksonville Florida mover would deliver the same way, but they failed miserably. By the way, there were three workers ( one driver, two packers), then they added one more worker on the day of the delivery. These people swore and most of the time they bicker at each other. I cringed each time I hear them swear. We're very private people and don't want a lot of drama about this, so we just decided to move on with our lives and just charge it to experience. Just giving a heads up to those who are planning to relocate, you should consider and give it a thought when hiring a responsible mover since relocating is stressful enough let alone dealing with an irresponsible mover.

Long-distance move from Orlando, FL to Fairhope, AL

Suddath Moving.

I like many others have moved several times with major moving companies, including several moves with United Van Lines. The sales rep assured me that my move experience with Suddath would professional and of the highest quality, unlike the others. Well that never happened. When the loading day arrived it was a completely different company and there was no Suddath employees on site. I was assured Suddath would be making the move. Very little contact with the move coordinator at Suddath, I usually had to call her to find out what was going on. When you set expectations with a customer you should try to meet those expectations or at tell the truth about what is actually going to transpire. United is only interested in your money and not the quality of the move experience or your personal belongings. United owns Mayflower and Allied. Do not use any of these companies. I have used United for three major moves within the United States and will never use this company again.

I wish I had gone with someone else!

I wish I had gone with someone else! From start to finish Suddath left me disappointed. We had to add storage last minute. Unloading was fine but the process for repairing broken items (our kitchen table had a wooden leg busted) was ridiculous. Who can leave their kitchen table broken for >30 days while the moving company processes a claim!? I am most frustrated about their deceptive billing practices. We had a “binding estimate”. When we added the storage, it was not made clear that storage was “non-binding”. When I arranged for delivery of our items out of storage I specifically asked for and received via email the final billing amount which I paid without incident. Three months later I received a bill for an unexpected additional $359.25. Long story short, Suddath refused to own up to their mistake of giving the incorrect final amount at the time of delivery. Even when I showed them the earlier emails, they would not budge on the amount due. I would not recommend using Suddath, I expect you will get what I got… mediocre service, lots of red tape, fine print with loop holes, and a company that refuses to own up to their mistakes.
